About Pocketey
Pocketey is a one-person studio that makes free, polished 3D games for the browser. Every game on this site is hand-crafted to run on a phone held in portrait, load in under three seconds, and deliver a satisfying loop in under three minutes. No accounts, no installs, no trackers that follow you around the web.
Why portrait, why three minutes?
Most 3D browser games on the big aggregators are designed for landscape desktop play first, and only later squeezed onto a phone. We do the opposite. We start every prototype on a 9:16 canvas, with the assumption that the player is holding the phone with one thumb on the screen, while waiting for a coffee, a friend, or a bus. That single constraint changes almost every design decision: cameras get pulled in tighter, controls become a single tap or a swipe, scoring loops compress into bite-sized sessions, and every level has to teach itself in seconds. The result is a kind of game that, in our opinion, almost nobody else is making for the web today.
What you will find here
Right now the catalog is small and curated on purpose. You will find tap puzzles where every move is a tiny chain reaction, endless runners where you backflip down a snowy slope, and short experiments that try a single idea well rather than a dozen ideas badly. The plan is to grow to roughly ten games over the first year, then thirty, then up to fifty if reception stays strong. Each game ships as a static bundle; we never stream content from a remote server during play, which means the game keeps working even when your connection drops mid-session.
How the games are built
The technical backbone is Next.js with React Three Fiber for 3D rendering, and the portal that wraps everything is built on Astro for raw speed. All audio is generated on the fly using the Web Audio API rather than relying on licensed sample packs, which keeps the download size under a megabyte for most games. Visual style leans on bold cartoon colors, chunky outlines, post-processing bloom, and the Fredoka typeface — a deliberate counterweight to the muted minimalism of so many web puzzle games. The whole site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and ships as static HTML, so it stays fast even from the other side of the planet.
How the site makes money
Pocketey is supported by display advertising and game-network rewarded video. Ads are deliberately placed where they cannot interrupt the play itself: a small banner under the game frame, a single rectangle in the end-of-round modal, and an optional rewarded video for players who choose to watch one in exchange for a continue or a bonus. We do not run auto-playing video, full-page interstitials before play, or any ad placement that could be mistaken for the game UI. Honest, gentle ads are a conscious commitment; if a game stops feeling fun because of them, we change the placement, not the game.
Who runs Pocketey
Pocketey is operated as a solo project. Game design, programming, art direction, sound, copy, and the website itself are all handled by one person, with help from open-source tools and open-license fonts. If you want to talk about a partnership, a feature request, a bug report, or simply want to say hello, the contact page has the latest channels open to the public. We try to read everything that arrives, even if a personal reply takes a while.
A note on language
The site and every game ship in English by default and add Japanese where practical, in line with our current main audiences. Other locales will be added as the catalog grows and as community demand makes itself heard. Thanks for stopping by — we hope at least one of these tiny worlds stays with you long after you close the tab.
